Maximilien Brunon

Maximilien Brunon is a french artist based in Berlin. He studied fashion in Paris at the Atelier Chardon Savard and art in Germany at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule. Max is seeking the perfect form and function using the best materials you can find in fabrics history.

In his artistic work Maximilien likes experimenting with his favorite material, porcelain, the white gold as he calls it. He is always accurately reproducing objects to invite the spectator to look at it for what it stands, delivered from its function.

About Maximilien’s edition for leikela:

FOSSIL 2

Edition: Porcelain / Plexiglas, Edition of 20

Max petrified the classic sneakers designed by the Dassler brothers for the army. This way he deprives the sneakers of their function in favor of the shoe as object itself. Max works with a slipcasting technique: Liquid porcelain body is poured into plaster moulds. It forms a layer in the cast, on the inside walls of the mould. Once the plaster has absorbed most of the liquid from the outside layer of the porcelain, the remaining slip is poured off. After some time more water is absorbed and the cast piece is removed from the mould and then it is fired in a kiln. This technique produces complex and really accurate shapes and structures, like FOSSIL 2 show perfectly.
